ARBUST Federation
ARBUST is the federation dedicated to sustainable outdoor wood solutions; it is a professional organization that represents the wood preservation and treated wood sector in France.
The federation provides information on autoclave-treated wood and its various applications, develops guides and decision-making tools for specifiers, and organizes trade shows and training sessions. On the technical side, it represents and defends the interests of wood preservers on standards committees, informs its members about regulatory changes, works on draft standards, and monitors technological developments.
ARBUST brings together stakeholders in the wood preservation sector: manufacturers of treated wood products, wood preservation products, and production tools.
Autoclave wood impregnation has been used for many decades to improve the durability of wood. This process allows for the full utilization of French or European softwoods, such as pine. A source of added value and jobs, this technique has established itself worldwide as the best balance of price, availability, and durability for all outdoor structures. In France, many companies have mastered this process and produce high-quality, durably protected wood products for outdoor use. Fifteen percent of the softwood lumber consumed in France is intended for autoclave treatment. This calculation is based on the equivalent volume of lumber, excluding roundwood (posts, stakes, stakes, and logs).
