Everything about the pines

What is the APEP?

The APEP is the Association for the Promotion of the Use of Pine.
Here is a word from the association's president:

The Bottom Line!

French pine is widely available, competitive, innovative and suitable for most uses.
Its timber is ideal for construction, decoration and outdoor structures.
But many people are unaware of its potential!
The FRENCH PINE brochure and website are designed to show off some of the lesser known uses of our pine timber, with the help of images and pictures. This is why industry and logistics are not addressed in the brochure, although these sectors are essential to the pine industry.

The mission of the APEP is to:

  • Inform people about the technical performance of pine, particularly in line with the new standards (strength, durability, traceability, carbon impact).
  • Sustainably support the supply of French pine by taking every opportunity to communicate the significant factors of this changing market to industry stakeholders, including policy makers, specifiers, distributors, processors and end users.
  • Encourage regional stakeholders to see beyond their differences and unite around the common characteristics of contrasting pine varieties.

Welcome to the website.
We hope you will be inspired as you discover all the different uses of French pine.

Hosted by the FNB (Fédération Nationale du Bois [National Wood Federation]). The association was founded in 1977 by Roger BARILLET and Roger LESBATS to unite all professionals of the pine industry in France and encourage joint initiatives to promote the two main pine varieties, maritime pine and Scots pine.
Shortly after it was founded, the APEP launched several initiatives to raise awareness and spread information about pine. The association also published a comprehensive technical guide on the two species of pine.
